Michelle Drake, DPT, OCS

Michelle is a national board certified orthopedic clinical specialist. She has been with Chugach Physical Therapy since May of 2009. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2009 from the University of Puget Sound. Prior to receiving her doctorate, Michelle received her Bachelor of Science in General Sciences at the University of Alaska in May 2005, worked as a dance instructor from 1995 to 2003, certified yoga instructor since 2004. Michelle's continued education focuses on manual therapy, joint mobilization/manipulation, movement analysis, and therapeutic exercise techniques.
Michelle has worked with people ages 0-101 presenting with a variety of conditions that include but are not limited to:
· General orthopedics/Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
· Pediatrics
· Neuromuscular conditions
Michelle’s treatment philosophy focuses on patient and family education, ensuring independence with self management of condition, and correction of biomechanical faults that often lead to chronic pain and injury. She likes to target the cause of the problem versus simply focusing on the symptoms. Michelle believes that postural alignment is key for a healthy and efficient recovery.
Outside of work, Michelle likes to mountain bike, hike, run, practice yoga, watch movies, travel to hot, sunny destinations, and spend time with her husband, son, family, and friends.
